Attention
Getters
Geoff Mackay Writes -
When
creating an attention getter first you must know how to stimulate
your audience. In order to do that you have to know who you are presenting
to and what their interests are. For example, if you were making a
bingo presentation it is likely that you will be presenting to elderly
people. They don't want to hear about motorcycles and video games,
pick a subject they can relate to, not one you like.
Second, stand at the door as people arrive, smile and introduce yourself,
make your face familiar, this way people will relate to you as a person
they know, not one they see for the 1st time. Make eye contact as
you begin, speaking clearly and consisely. Never mumble, make sure
your words flow with your feeling. Do many practices prior to the
actual presentation.
As long as you follow those two simple rules you will gain the attention
of your audience regardless of quality for the content you deliver.
