It's A Good Thing I Had To Keep The Bike Out Of The Power Band For The Break In Period Of The Engine Or I Might Have Hurt Myself. I Learned How To Turn All Over Again, Really Using My Body As A Part Of The Bike. The Straight Handlebars Were A Big Change From The Monkey Bars On My Cruiser, As I Learned How To Make The Little Bike Turn In Very Fast. After A Long Day On The Bike, We Decide To Have A Poker Night. Drinks And Cards, What A Combination! I Ended Up Winning A Few Hundred Bucks, So I Was Really Happy. I Began Riding Crotch Rockets On A CBR600, After Riding His 900, But It's Been A Few Years, So I Have Outgrown The Bike. Geoff Is Of The Opinion That The Way To Steer Is Counter Steering, Or Using The Handlebars Completely. Richard Thinks It Is More Important To Use Your Body To Steer, Through Weight Shifting At The Seat And Through Weight On The Footpegs. I Think They Both Have Good Points, But I Believe The Best Way To Ride Is Through A Combination Of Both Techniques. I Followed His Example By Being Polite And He Let Me Go, After Telling Me To Get The Light Fixed. I Have Some Friends Who Are Rude To Officers, And They Usually Get Tickets, But A Good Friend Once Told Me To Always Be Polite. However, After Being Introduced To "crotch Rockets" By Geoff MacKay, And Purchasing One Myself, I Had To Learn How To Ride All Over Again. My Bike Was "only A 600," But It Was Very Different. After Experiencing Geoff MacKay's Very Fast 900, I Couldn't Resist The Urge To Go Out And Get One Of My Very Own. So, One Day, After Leaving Victoria Bodyworks, I Went To The Bike Dealer. The Salesman Said The CBR Was The Easiest Of The Fast Bikes To Get Used To. Geoff Mackay On The Golf Course               Geoff Mackay Geoff On The Golf Course I Just Got Back From A Great Round Of Golf. The Course Is Fantastic Shape, Although The Green On 17 Is Still Recovering From The Recent Damage. The Front Nine Was Marginal, I Ended Up Shooting 3 Over, Even With An Eagle On 4 And Birdies On 2 And 7. 9 Was A Nightmare, As I Pulled My Drive, And After A Recovery Into The Fairway, Overshot The Green Into The Bunkers On The Right. Seven Strokes On A Par Four Hurts. However, I'm Sure You All Know How Quickly I Can Regain Confidence. I Came Very Close To A Hole In One On The Short Par 3, Just Around The Bend. 16 Was Beautiful, I Went Over The Trees, And Had An Easy 7 Iron To The Green. Last Friday Night, At Sometime Between 2 And 4 In The Morning, Some Of The Kids From The Local High School Dropped By In The Course Of Their Celebrations. They Drove Through The Yard Of Some Local Residents, And Onto The Course. The Residents That Spotted The Car Said It Was An Orange Mustang, With A High School Parking Sticker. After The Kids Did Donuts On The Green, They Almost Ran Over Residents Attempting To Apprehend. Geoff And Richard Motorcycle Steering Geoff & Richard R. - Steering A Motorcycle   I Had A Discussion With Some Good Friends Of Mine Recently About The Difference Between Counter Steering An Body Steering. First, A Little Background. Geoff MacKay Is The Man Who First Introduce Me To Race Style Bikes, And Richard R. MacKay Has Been Riding Only A Short Time, But Is Very Fast, And Spends Lots Of Time On The Track. Geoff Is Of The Opinion That The Way To Steer Is Counter Steering, Or Using The Handlebars Completely. Richard Thinks It Is More Important To Use Your Body To Steer, Through Weight Shifting At The Seat And Through Weight On The Footpegs. I Think They Both Have Good Points, But I Believe The Best Way To Ride Is Through A Combination Of Both Techniques. I Believe You Must Initiate A Turn With The Handlebars, And Stabilize The Bike Through The Turn, Making Small Changes With Your Body Weight. I Had Never Tried The Method Of Body Steering Until Speaking With Some Really Fast Riders After A Day On The Track. It Doesn't Seem To Upset The Bike As Much In A Turn When Small Adjustments Are Made At The Pegs, And Shifting Weight In The Seat Seems To Lower The Center Of Gravity And Really "plant" The Bike. After Experiencing Geoff MacKay's Very Fast 900, I Couldn't Resist The Urge To Go Out And Get One Of My Very Own. So, One Day, After Leaving Victoria Bodyworks, I Went To The Bike Dealer. The Salesman Said The CBR Was The Easiest Of The Fast Bikes To Get Used To. Dangling By His Fingertips Geoff Mackay Reaches For A Bolt, Finds His Oldest Piece Of Protection, Reaches Up And Secures It To The Cliff. The Town Looks Very Industrial As You Approach The Center, But Downtown Is Very Clean. It Is Also Somewhat Of A Chore To Get Down Town, As The Main Highway Literally Dead Ends In What They Call Midtown. However, After Arriving Downtown, We Were Pleasantly Greeted By Great People And Music. Street Musicians Abound, And Some Are Very Talented, Playing Blues And Jazz In Varied Styles. The Clubs Are Also Very Enjoyable, And There Is A Safe Atmosphere. Geoff & John's Travels: South Korea          Geoff & John's Travels: South Korea I Just Arrived Back In The 'States From An Excursion Into The Heart Of South Korea, And I Must Tell You About My Travels. My Companions On This Journey Were My Very Good Friends, Geoff MacKay And John MacKay. After Dreaming And Discussing Traveling To This Country, We Were Able To All Finally Get The Same Week Of Time Free. With Our Demanding Lives, Come Demanding Schedules, And I'm Not Complaining, But I'm Sure You Can Imagine The Difficulty In Arranging A Week Out Of The Country. We Began In Seoul, The Capital City, Where We Enjoyed Some Delightful, Yet Unusual Foods. The Delicacies Included Food That Would Be Unheard Of In The United States. We Also Traveled To The DMZ, The Mined Area Of Land That Separates The Armed Forces Of North And South Korea. There Is An Enormous Flagpole Visible, On The North Korean Side, Bearing The Flag Of Their Nation. We Were Told That The South Koreans Had Built A Large Flagpole, So In Turn North Korea Built A Larger One. I Could Speak Of Our Travels For Hours, But I Think It Is More Appropriate To Just Say Our Visit Was Incredible. He Suggested I See The Buddhist Temples, So I Took His Advice And Was Very Pleased. A Peaceful Bicycle Ride Of About 5 Miles Led Me To The Ancient Temples. They Are Still Used And Maintained Beautifully. We Also Encountered Some Young Monks Practicing Their Martial Arts, But Tried Not To Disturb Their Sacred Rituals. The Trip To The Countryside Provided Us With A Dramatically Different Experience To The Bustle Of Seoul. It's Amazing That A Country Of So Many, With Comparatively Little Land, Keeps Their Open Space So Beautiful. World Politics Were Discussed, As Well As The Meaning Of Life And Sports. We Were, Of Course, Surrounded By Beautiful Architecture And Spectacular Museums. When I Met Geoff I Knew He Had Potential, But I Had No Idea How Skillful He Is Until I Saw Him Shoot. At The Range He Unsheathed His Winchester 308 With A Small 10 Power Scope As If It Were Some Super-weapon. I Admit That I Was Very Unimpressed After His Boasting I Was Almost Disappointed. We Moved Into The Prone Position And Began To Set Up, But After Only 3 Or 4 Minutes Mackay Asked If He Could Take A Shot. I Looked At Him Like He Was Crazy And Asked Him To Identify Which Target He Was Aiming In At. He Picked A Target That Was At Least 800 Yards Away! No Way I Thought, But Only Gave Him Confirmation And Watched. With A Cold Barrel In Moderate Wind He Hit A Large Coffee Can Like It Was Child's Play. Needless To Say I've Eaten My Words Since Then. My Harley Purchase Was Extremely Joyful For The First Year, As I Really Didn't Push Its Mechanical Limits. However, After I Had Gained Some Experience, With Lots Of Help From John MacKay, I Wanted To Go Faster. So I Purchased A Multitude Of Performance Parts From Victoria Bodyworks, A Small Race Shop In My Home Town. After Bolting On A New Carb, Having The Heads Ported And Polished, And Installing A Full Exhaust I Was So Happy With The Additional Performance I Knew I Needed More. So I Bought A Stroker Kit, Had A Valve Job Done, And Installed Nitrous. Needless To Say, Reliability Became An Issue, As I Was Constantly Having To Tune The Bike Before I Could Ride.
