Robert Kubica has become Poland's first Formula One driver after being confirmed in the position of test and substitute driver for the BMW Sauber team. In addition to driving at test sessions, the 21-year old will be at the wheel of BMW Sauber's third car during the Friday test sessions before each race. "This is a fantastic opportunity for me," he said, "I'm going to prove that I have earned it. For a young driver like me the three-car rule is a Godsend. In the past, test and replacement drivers were only sent out on test tracks, but I will get to know all 19 Grand Prix circuits and the ins and outs of a GP weekend." |
